Waheed Khan | BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography

My name is Waheed Khan and my project is
called All That Glitters Is Not Dahab. The project is about the link
between the decline of tourism in Egypt and the politics of the country. I worked
for Barclays for six years, so slowly realised that sitting at a desk in an
office job is not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And
something I enjoyed, is what I wanted to pursue and photography was that thing.
Taking the risk is a good thing, because you’re trying to do something
to better yourself and to enjoy your life. I’m really glad that I’ve come down that
path. In BA (Hons) Photojournalism in our class there’s been camaraderie and
community. We’re all friends – we all talk about each other’s work, we all love seeing each other’s work. It doesn’t feel very competitive but it does feel like you
have a community, it’s a great sense of that. I’ve seen work from my colleagues and I’ve been stunned by the quality. And whoever comes to see their degree show will be
equally impressed.
