  3. David Dack Maki January 14, 2019 at 7:08 am

Well I’m excited about this camera and the price point I’ve been looking to get into video & this one might do it for me!

  4. Krissy D Conqueror January 15, 2019 at 3:09 pm

I am very grateful fro your videos and videos like this because am looking to start live streaming for my church and can't decide what camera to buy. Don't have the money to go for a $1000 camera so I was thinking of the canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder. What do you think?

  5. Kelly Irvin January 15, 2019 at 4:16 pm

Can you tell me if the HF G50 had a video terminal on the back right side, like we would find on the XA11?

  6. Nikki Oldaker January 15, 2019 at 4:34 pm

What kind of microphone do you recommend for YouTube recordings?

  7. Ana Muriel January 16, 2019 at 12:02 am

I thought buy a Canon Legria HF GX10, is Canon Legria HF G50 a huge improvement?

PS: Legria is the name in Europe for Vixia.

  8. Rumple Stiltskin January 16, 2019 at 9:39 am

4K at 30 equals only stationary targets because if the target moves, this camera will render a blur. Higher the FPS the higher clarity with a moving target. This camera does have a small sensor. The upside is for a studio camera, it can’t be beat. Stationary excellence is the name of this game. Plus good lens.

  9. Phollowing Phil January 17, 2019 at 1:59 am

Hello think media, I bought the Cannon Rebel based on your recommendation I'm no expert yet but my question is the kit came with the EF -18-35 and EF 75-300 mm lenses, and these lenses seem to be extreme tight, after some online review its seems the vlogging community is saying with this camera you have to purchase an extra $300 lense to get the vlogging effect. However, when I look on youtube I see many vloggers using the EF -18-35 with alot of success…What am I missing??

  10. Fishin The 910 January 17, 2019 at 7:37 am

Yes I am looking to upgrade to a camcorder and a nice actual gopro, not the knock offs. Your channel has been very helpful. I'm looking for a camcorder that I can put an external mic on and is a nice one for fishing videos, any suggestions?

I've had a 4K Sony Camcorder for over a year now. A lot of people that make YouTube videos seem to think a camcorder is just for old senior citizens or something. My Sony AX-53 has 20 times optical zoom like this one does, and it has very good stabilization. This Canon camera has better data rates at 4K though. And it has two card slots. Don't overlook owning a modern camcorder.

  13. Nick De Marco January 17, 2019 at 7:33 pm

I'm interested to hear the reviews after people get a chance to use the G50. I own the G40 and it's basically the same but without 4k. Looks like it might be a decent camera.

  14. Ajith Antony January 18, 2019 at 2:16 am

I need your best 4K video camera for my YouTube channel. Which is best camera for long time videography DSLR camera or mirrorless camera or camcorder which is the Best 4K video camera under $600

  16. Boat Hengtrakool January 19, 2019 at 9:13 am

  17. The Outdoor Mentors January 19, 2019 at 4:04 pm

when the smaller cameras come with 4k 60fps than it will be interesting to buy such cams, now it is a waste of your money

  22. Midnight Madness 4x4 January 20, 2019 at 1:14 pm

I upgraded 2 years ago to a Sony fdrax53. Love it especially with the digital zoom range.

  23. Carin Somers January 20, 2019 at 2:24 pm

I love camcorders I have 2 Sony handy Cams, I tried DSLR but to complicaties for me

  24. Noot January 20, 2019 at 6:52 pm

His main reason is the recording limit, and sadly that's something that's artificially limited by the camera manufacturer.

  25. Sujeesh Sudevan January 21, 2019 at 5:39 am

    Can we change the lens?

  26. Pigeons 420 January 21, 2019 at 3:23 pm

  28. Schardt Cinematic Productions January 21, 2019 at 6:57 pm

DSLR 30min time limit per file. But my Canons still keep recording. It just starts a new file. Then I just edit them together and you can't tell.

  29. trever pitts January 22, 2019 at 2:02 am

Before watching the video I say the pros to a camcorder is extremely long the video for concerts events. The cons are you're not going to get that really extreme shallow depth of field. But I would say these kind of camcorders are good for people doing news doing other things where you might need a long Zoom and you don't want to have to worry about interchangeable lenses. If it had a really wide angle lens on it make a 16 mm then you'll be good for those vlogger. but because all camcorders usually have a non super wide angle lens it's not great for that. But that camcorder will be definitely good for shooting CES content it's great for Run and Gun video

  30. peterzpictstube January 22, 2019 at 3:55 am

Surprising value for a Canon, I am sorry but a lot of folks miss the ease of event recording with a good old camcorder. Being able to zoom in and out smoothly with a proper rocker is something lost on folks. I am really looking forward to seeing how the 4k footage looks since it super samples from almost 20mp. Should help with noise, its main competitors from Panasonic and Sony have 1/2.5 sensors vs its slightly larger 2/3 inch sensor. This is pretty big considering that was the size of sensors in professional camcorders back in the day. The only weakness I suspect is is lack of ND filters.

  33. Rubin lopez January 22, 2019 at 9:39 pm

tax got lifted all dslr that are new now don't come with the 30 mknute limite. older ones won't be able to get a software update to lift the 30 minute limit. but if u buy a new one (doesn't matter the model) ex q7iii a6400 a7riii rx100v. you will not get a recoring limit. lol so I guess camcorders no longer serve a purpose ?‍♂️?‍♂️. not bashing you, obviously u dropped this video a little while ago but it just popped into my feed so hope no one else makes the decision to buy this camera for that purpose alone.

I want a canon 700d i think thats good for vlogging… but so very expensive for me..

  35. Jay Sindab January 23, 2019 at 10:41 am

I'm going to do some overlanding and will shoot landscapes, cities, driving and do some talking about the journey. I think in my case a dslr is the best choice with additional gopro's and a drone for aerial views. With a dslr I can also take some nice photos. Now I just have a beginner Nikon but will upgrade before I start. Any suggestions?

  36. the watcher January 23, 2019 at 11:28 am

i have 2 camcorders sony and canon, shoot only 1080p. i love camcorder but the downside is, they struggle in low light.

  37. Coyote Whisperer January 23, 2019 at 3:35 pm

I own Canon G40 model and its simply an amazing camcorder, i use it mostly on my hunting trips and could not be more happy with it! Im sure the 4K feature will be outstanding on this unit.

  38. Ballistic BBQ January 23, 2019 at 4:03 pm

I've been using Canon camcorders for some time now. I'm a one-man show shooting multi-cam and I like the ease of a camcorder. Just ordered two G50s and plan on ordering two more soon. Looking forward to shooting 4K!

i was in the hope sony or panasonic would release a 4k 60/50p Camcorder, so again i will not spend my Money on a new handycam. 🙁 my actual Camcorder is a sony ax-53 and that was 2016 and it is still one of the best in it`s class.

I used to shoot with Canon Vixia for 3 years before I moved to mirrorless. Had no problem it’s just that I want a different look.
I might upgrade my a6000 to a6400, it has what I need at the moment.

  53. ZenGeekDad February 2, 2019 at 8:00 pm

Tip: buyers that can afford this are not in junior high, so your point that this camera "Just Dropped (!)" just makes us fear you have nothing substantive to say. Turns out, you sort of do, … but mostly for folks who aren't yet familiar with cameras in this range. Fine. Nice job teaching the new converts (really). But how does this compare with, say the XC15? And when can we expect to see reviews targeting serious users? And quality demo footage? I see one can pre-order, but it won't ship til Apr.

Looks like Canon is playing catch-up with Panasonic's VX Series.

  57. IUSECAMERAS February 11, 2019 at 3:45 pm

i think i might cop one of these. to add to my 'squad' (i have 2 T3i's and 1 T3) I've turned down jobs BECAUSE of the 12 minute length of my T3i's so there won't be a gap in recording. kinda been waiting for something like this. and it'll match the texture of my other cameras with it being another Canon.

  58. Ross O'Connor February 13, 2019 at 9:54 pm

I really enjoy your videos, but if you say “coming up” at the end of your intro you don’t need to start with “we’re going to” at the start. You’re saying the same thing twice in the one sentence. You guys are great though!!

  59. DIY Astro February 18, 2019 at 2:02 pm

I was thinking of getting a camcorder for their infrared ability, and zoom. I do astronomy videos and when I try to demonstrate equipment at night, my Canon 77D really falls short, even with the ISO up and a fast lens. I'm interested in the Panasonic HC-W580. it also has a second camera so you can record your reaction as you're filming something in front of you, and it appears screen within screen on the same file! Looks like a good addition to me.

  60. TealcJack February 21, 2019 at 6:39 am

Looking to get a new camcorder and struggling to pick which one. Sony is out as my older Sony had a problem 1 day after the 90 warranty expired and they would not cover. I had to pay over $200 to get it fixed. Therefore, I am looking at a Panasonic HC-WFX1K and this new Canon. Not sure where I am going to go. Would like a new DSLR but right now these camcorders are more in the budget to get 4K.

What's wrong with cameras and microphones today when they can't get rid of certain annoying extra noises on the background? You could easily see them on the right graph and eliminate them also from software. And what about the extra whiteness on monitors and digital photos that seem to come there by default? That kind of effect can always be calibrated away with adjustments and it is visible on graph diagrams.

  75. mixflip April 22, 2019 at 4:29 am

What I like about camcorders is the "GO TIME" factor. You show up, your subject is ready, you whip out your camera and its GO TIME! No fiddling around with switches and button and menus and settings and lenses etc. I have been at trade shows and demo days with my professional camera buddy and as awesome as he is….he often has to tell me to wait so he can setup the shot. Set the camera for the new conditions etc etc. Not on every shot but many times during the day we are waiting for the camera man to "set up". Some events have scenes that need to be shot RIGHT NOW! or it's gone.

Camcorders are always in focus, have built in everything (almost) you just flip open and hit record. Ad in image stabilization and 20x optical zoom and 4k….its a run & gun dream come true. Of course if you like DOP shots DSLR's are the way to go but I am a trade show/ events guy who wants everything in focus. I am not making cinema grade movies and don't want to.

Thanks as always for a great video!

I am hesitating buying a canon camcorder again, because I bought a canon vixia hf s21 8 years ago I paid 1,300 and when I went to a parade in Manhattan 2018 I recorded for 4 hours, when I get home and I turned on my camcorder I saw a purple horizontal lines on the lcd I visited canon's website they say: "Please be advised that repair service is no longer available for this product". I feel disappointed.

  99. Arcade Matt November 30, 2019 at 1:00 am

Been shooting with a Canon M6 mirrorless for years now and love it but am kind of missing a camcorder. I hate that there's no hand grip to use for the m6 – I've tried some that never fit / felt right. The "zoom" on a mirrorless, while quick is sometimes too jerky – my camera guys sometimes zoom too fast. I hate having to worry about maybe bringing a longer lens incase I need zooms / closeups.

Also can't use shoe mount for say audio pack, then flip the lcd for selfie mode (unless u have the newer mirrorless). Just a bunch of little things I've kind of grown tired of with shooting with a mirrorless, really making me think of getting this one. I had a G30 before my mirrorless and loved it.

Also my M6 has been randomly having focus issues, it'll go out of focus for no reason and it's really hard to get it back in focus… really a pain. Never had that issue with camcorders.

  100. Alex Sem December 6, 2019 at 6:19 pm

I don't know how anyone in good conscience can recommend this when Panasonic GH5 exists. If you want to do video, you'll need lighting, microphones and multiple lenses unless you are ok with your videos looking like they were made 20 years ago. If you want to shoot videos for fun, just stick with your phone and a gimbal if you're going to move around and save yourself a thousand dollars.
