I love it. I cringe so hard when I look at my original videos. It was so weird for me because when I do speaking engagements, I'm so energetic, but it wasn't translating to camera. What helped me was just making as many videos as possible, and it just became more natural.

  5. Its All About The Real Estate November 8, 2019 at 7:19 pm

Thumbs up RB! Great content and great points. The more videos you do the more confident you become. Loving the process too!

  6. GERARD ARELLANO November 8, 2019 at 7:21 pm

Thats something im trying to get at, show my personality on camera. When camera is off im funny and very talkative, soon red light goes on, my tone changes right away. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Roberto. This is one thing I definitely don't have a problem with, but I know this is a very important issue for many people. Great job!

Taking time… prioritize family and work time and youtube creating time. Trying beyond that to decide if i want to actually put videos out for myself(which is usually just random testing or video of random items)… or actually start online businesses through youtube and Instagram. I fall back into the "not lazy but just not doing it cause i cant decide and not willing to make 2 channels to suit separate interests" category… and post whenever instead of reliably uploading… i have to adjust my day job and side hustle work schedule to get it done though. Creative blocks like work times aside, its definitely possible.

I am just getting started and getting used to talking to the camera is one thing I need to overcome. So I need to get more practice being on camera and polishing up my presentation. Plus making sure that inner critic is kicked to the curb and not letting it get into my head.

I just look ugly on camera. Just butt ugly. I hate the way I sound too.

I feel like my biggest stumbling block is preparation and confidence. I'm working on it now. I've started using bullet points and short scripts for some of the points, but I still get tripped up.

I do see a difference between my earlier videos and my newer ones. I love the idea of "practice makes progress". My new mantra. 😊

  18. Paddy's Vlog November 8, 2019 at 9:37 pm

You do HANDS DOWN the absolute best content tips videos for beginning creators. There are so many "cinematic" content creators who film pretty videos and just give enough "advice" to fill 10 minutes of video time(and at the 9 minute mark, you realize they haven't really said anything).

Thank you for KEEPING IT REAL!

  19. RJ Martinez November 8, 2019 at 9:41 pm

I watched this video and pumped me up to keep creating! Thanks Roberto <3

  20. GamerGrade November 8, 2019 at 9:43 pm

I only revealed my face after making 150 videos and found that helped me avoid being too cringy when starting out, that's one of the benefits of a gaming channel, you can delay that face reveal!

  21. GamerGrade November 8, 2019 at 9:44 pm

Roberto would you say its beneficial for a gaming channel to have a face on all the thumbnails?

  22. Gardentastic November 8, 2019 at 10:03 pm

  23. Dreymasmith Dreams November 8, 2019 at 10:09 pm

Keeping up the energy levels. I am aware on editing that I can sound flat at times, and it ends up sounding like I'm bored or tired or unwell. Not good. And it's just an issue of not polishing my presence. Thanks for helping me pinpoint how to refocus this.

  24. My Autobiography A Fanfic November 8, 2019 at 10:18 pm

It's interesting that you mentioned lighting with your complexion, because in my opinion you look a little over exposed. But I think I know what it is. You have the ring light in front of you, which is an unnatural light position. I think you're doing it because you're wearing the cap though.

  25. Ken Lang November 8, 2019 at 10:19 pm

Thank you sooo much for this.

  26. expat survival November 8, 2019 at 10:31 pm

Geez Roberto, seems like the theme of most of your videos to get better is MAKE MORE VIDEOS. Haha. I like it, action over ideas.

  27. AJ's Green Topics November 8, 2019 at 10:34 pm

This is some great stuff. Have a great weekend.

  28. Days of French 'n' Swedish November 8, 2019 at 10:40 pm

I struggle with the technical set ups like you mentioned, which causes me to have my mind somewhere else rather than on the content. I think knowing that I'm even in focus (with my setup I sort of have to guess and yesterday I did three videos out of focus haha) but yeah I think even using an external monitor to be sure would help… The tip about being prepared so that you don't have to think about it is a huge one! Thanks Roberto!

  30. New Garden Road November 8, 2019 at 11:14 pm

I still underestimate how much I need to prepare. Even when talking about a subject that I’m passionate & knowledgeable about. It all ties together. Great video Roberto!

  35. Clautastic November 9, 2019 at 1:13 am

Do you guys feel like you talk a little bit different from real life when recording a video? I think I do, and I have to constantly check myself to talk "normal". I wonder how valid is to have a video voice while getting used to vlogging, or if is ok to talk a little bit different, see I dont want to cringe myself πŸ˜…

  36. Kevfactor November 9, 2019 at 1:24 am

Public speaking something I have to work on. Will consider some of these

  37. peterjuff November 9, 2019 at 1:52 am

  38. How to Plumbing November 9, 2019 at 2:04 am

Roberto awesome. Your down to earth approach comes across great. Very helpful information. Thank you for the inspiration. I struggle in being directly in front of the cameras but am slowly progressing in moving from videos with mostly music , to voice overs to now speaking to camera and the audience directly , I find you can just edit out the crap and use the stuff that works for me in the story of each video .

  43. Shine Graffix November 9, 2019 at 3:23 am

Thanks Robert. you are an inspiration to me. Awesome Videos πŸ‘

  44. Jeremiah Svaren November 9, 2019 at 3:30 am

The perfect thing to watch while YouTube processes my 5th video in my 30-day challenge. I'm thinking about stretching it to a 90-day challenge… But I don't want to make a video just to make a video, I want every video to provide value to someone. I guess like you say, just get the first 100 out then I'll be 100X better.

  45. Eddie Jaoude November 9, 2019 at 3:50 am

  52. Kevin Benedict November 9, 2019 at 1:35 pm

my niche is not popular-instructor techniques series, i struggle with how and what i look and sound like, so i got no problem making 100 bad videos, lol, love your channel and advice and tips, keep up the great work, i just gotta grind, subscribe to my channel Roberto

  53. Athletes Forever November 9, 2019 at 1:42 pm

I definitely have been working on my on camera persona. I'm only about 40 crappy videos in, only 60 more crappy fitness videos to go.🀣🀣

  54. Tanisha Campbell November 9, 2019 at 2:06 pm

I'm camera shy and grew up having to suppress my personality in order to be socially accepted. The consciousness and holistic movements gaining in popularity have opened up acceptance, I am catching up. Being unsure of my presentation (is there enough info, is it clear and concise, is it relevant).

  55. Amelia Anne Curated November 9, 2019 at 2:30 pm

I definitely struggle with looking at the camera vs. my monitor. I think Im looking at the camera and then I see the footage back and Im just looking at myself πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

  56. TheAndySan November 9, 2019 at 3:17 pm

Oh man, I can easily tell where I was in life based on how well (or not well in most cases) I talk on camera! But thankfully, I've been pretty confident on camera lately, and that's because I'm moving towards where I want in life!

  59. Alex Magee November 9, 2019 at 7:18 pm

Love all the 5 tips. Going to use all of them after I get over what I'm mourning. Keep the good work going Berto.

  60. Alex Magee November 9, 2019 at 7:20 pm

I struggle the most with my Vertigo. lol. I sometimes get more dizzy while I am recording.

  61. Cody Montgomery November 9, 2019 at 9:43 pm

Thanks, Roberto! Always helping me out so much! Much love to you man.

  62. John Salgado November 9, 2019 at 10:09 pm

Hey Roberto do you think you could make a video on the presidential candidate Andrew Yang, he's been popping off and wanted to know your thoughts on him if you have heard of him.

  63. David Benjamin Burchall November 9, 2019 at 10:11 pm

My biggest issue right now is lighting. I've got to figure out how to get more lighting in my tiny trailer for videos. My dark complexion makes it challenging even with a can light pointed right at me 3 feet away. (I'm impressed you mentioned this issue!) Going to have to rig something up.

  64. Southern Entertaining November 9, 2019 at 11:49 pm

Great video! I keep telling myself to get on the camera more so people can really get to know me. Hopefully my future videos will have me on the camera a little more often

  65. Libolt Adventures November 10, 2019 at 12:01 am

Love grabbing my notebook for these videos.

  66. The Knife Beater November 10, 2019 at 7:43 am

I struggle with my delivery. I try to speak on camera as if the viewer is sitting in front of me, in the same room. I focus on talking with someone, not at someone. It's so easy to revert back to my old ways, where it sounds like I'm reading from a script. Thanks for the tips, I always appreciate your honesty.

  67. Daniel Lentz November 10, 2019 at 10:47 am

Thanks for your wonderful tips man. The first tip helped me right away!

  68. Narc Free Formula November 10, 2019 at 11:00 am

Hey Roberto. I have a Narcissism channel on YouTube and love your work.

  69. MKD58 Media November 10, 2019 at 2:41 pm

Practice makes progress, for sure! Also remember if you have a very low subscriber/View count (such as myself, lol) its a PERFECT time to really practice and get use to being on camera because if you feel you look awkward, etc, nobody is actually seeing it anyways. Then by the time you start getting some real views, you'll have gotten better.

  73. Naruto Explained November 11, 2019 at 1:25 am

I switched to talking into a mic, but I'm toying with the idea of going back on camera. I struggle most on camera with looking into the camera and not the playback monitor. I usually have it turned around, just in case I can see if the camera stopped recording and started buffering. On playback, what annoyed me on my 1st channel is that you could see my eyes wandering over every few minutes to the monitor to make sure it was still recording.

  74. Suzy Valentin Realtor November 11, 2019 at 1:43 am

Wow over 1000 videos and 2000 livestreams! So impressed and I liked how you said how you and everyone needs to keep on improving.

  75. Jona November 11, 2019 at 3:24 am

I really love your channel Roberto, tomorrow I'm starting a daily vlog for a number of reasons. You are one of the inspirations to do so, thanks πŸ™ŒπŸ»

  76. Movie Logic November 11, 2019 at 5:38 am

Learned to stay focused and tell one continuous, coherent story lol

  81. Matt Herbert November 13, 2019 at 8:51 am

Really helpful video, Roberto – as always. Love your work – thanks!

  82. Mike Bur November 13, 2019 at 5:08 pm

One of my biggest problems so far is probably not enough eye contact with the camera. If look into the camera more and if I speak louder, clearer, and a little slower then I think I would have 5x the quality. Just making those a habit is rough at first.

  86. Fish Hawk November 14, 2019 at 1:41 pm

How is it that you have almost half a million subscribers and your videos get like 5k-6k views?

  87. Carmen and Brian November 14, 2019 at 3:20 pm

My biggest issue is energy. We do travel vlogs and sometimes I'm just legit tired and on top of that I have a pretty mellow, relaxed personality. I am myself on camera (been doing this since 2014 – yes I remember those early awkward days), but myself on camera is not energetic enough. It's a constant struggle to me to try to have more energy while remaining true to myself. Thanks for all the great tips!

You have such a natural and strong presence and charisma when speaking! I think even in your earliest videos it was there already, just dormant. Your content is always so inspiring, so that I always feel like coming back to checking in for new stuff! Could you do a video about how you can talk without script/outline and not lose your train of thought? Thanks!

  95. IAM GEMINI.Tv2 November 21, 2019 at 6:03 pm

Let me start by saying that I think you are I awesome creator. I am a new YouTuber Inspire to be someone great. The lessons you teach I truly remarkable. I was watching you 100 crappiest videos. And since I'm a new YouTuber I am accepting your challenge… thank you for inspiring me to be something great

  97. leistico December 13, 2019 at 12:09 am

I've got a question for you sort of along the lines of what's covered here, but it's something I'm wondering a lot about, as I'm preparing to do the first of my hundred crappy videos.

How much forethought and scripting do you do in your videos? Do you write and then memorize a whole script for each video? Do you just write an outline and touch on each part of that? Do you just hit "record" and wing it and then trim it in post? I have an idea for a whole series of videos (my first) and I'd like to cover a lot of information (it's a how-to kind of thing about mixing live sound for musical theatre productions on an academic and community theatre level, with bits about theory, about what to do, how to do it, how to fix problems, all the what and why I can speak to) but I'm nervous about just winging it. I can babble on and on for hours on the subject but I tend to digress and meander and lose my train of thought a lot. How much of a full script or outline should I have ready before I even get the gear set up and hit the record button on my iPhone? In other words, how much planning?
