How to add special effects to your video – Part 1: Transparent backgrounds

Hi! I’m Alina and this is the Movavi channel. I bet many of you have at least once in your
life dreamed of becoming a Hollywood director and creating amazing movies. Modern cinema has become so spectacular that
sometimes it’s difficult to imagine how exactly some of those effects were created. I always wanted to know whether I could create
those kinds of effects myself! It’s no secret that Hollywood puts a lot
of effort and money into creating stunning effects. But you don’t need to spend millions of
dollars to use some of them in your video. Here is an example: let’s say you have a pretty
ordinary video. Now let’s see how you can transformit by adding
some unusual effects: Special effects are also often used by YouTube
bloggers to make their videos stand out from the crowd. For example, try looking through the famous
pixel glasses Or incorporate cute animated animals You can easily recreate this kind of magic
with Movavi Video Editor. There are two ways to apply special effects:
The first is to use images with a transparent background or an image with GIF animation The second is to use chroma key . Today I will teach you how to use the first
method. You’ll learn how to add pictures with a
transparent screen to your video and place them over your main video track. Follow these step-by-step instructions to
create this effect at home: Step 1. Install the program Download Movavi Video Editor for Windows or Mac and install it on your computer. Step 2. Add video to the program Click “Add media” files and select the video files you want to add to your movie. The selected files will be automatically placed
on the video track on the timeline. Then, find a picture with a transparent background
that you want to add to the main video. Typically, the format of such images is PNG. Add it to the program in the same way as the
video files. Step 3.Move the clip on an additional track Drag the image with the transparent background on to the additional video track, located above the main video track. Step 4. Adjust the video settings Double-click on the top clip In the preview window You can adjust the picture size by pulling
on the edges of the image. After you’ve positioned it in the desired
location, you can change the angle of the picture if you want. Now click “apply” to save changes. In order for the picture to appear and disappear
gradually, click on the image, then on “clip properties” in the bar above and adjust
the time for “fade in” and “fade out” Extra Tip! Use GIF files to add animated pictures to
your videos. One of the attributes of the GIF format is
that it allows you to create simple animation. Use the “picture in picture” mode to add
the file to the desired place. If you wish, you can copy and paste the GIF
image several times in a row. Step 5.Save your finished clip If your clip is ready, click Export and select the appropriate tab at the top of the export
window. You can save the clip for viewing on a computer
or mobile device, or prepare the video for uploading to the web. After you’ve configured the settings, press
Start. Now you’ve learned the first method of creating
special effects in a video. In the next video tutorial, I will teach you
the second method, called the “chroma key” effect. You will learn how to use a video with a green
background to achieve the impossible! To help you master the art of video editing
faster, I have prepared a “basic skills” video tutorial for you – you’ll be posting
your first video before you know it! The link to the video lesson is in the description. Be sure to subscribe to our channel so you
don’t miss the next episode! By the way, if you still don’t have a video
editor yet, you can download the free trial version of the program by clicking on the
link. That’s all for now. Don’t forget to leave your comments and questions
below, and I’ll see you in the next video!
